Body found on Kolkata Metro line; Services halted till 3pm for Rabindra Sarovar to New Garia

The discovery was made by the motorman of the metro traveling from Dakshineshwar to New Garia around 9:47 am on Wednesday. The circumstances of how the body ended up on the metro line between the two stations raise questions, with no clear answers at this point.

In response to the incident, metro movement has been suspended from Rabindra Sarovar to New Garia on both up and down lines from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Currently, metro services are operational from Dakshineshwar to Maidan. The disruption in metro services during peak office hours has inconvenienced passengers.

This incident follows a suicide attempt on the metro last September when an individual tried to jump onto the New Garia-bound down line at Girish Park station. The metro movement was halted from Dakshineshwar to Girish Park from 9:55 am to 10:24 am, causing inconvenience to passengers. The repeated occurrences of such incidents highlight the challenges in ensuring the safety and security of metro passengers.
